Shchedrin & Bizet’s Carmen fantasy

This past week I had the true pleasure of immersing in Rodion Shchedrin’s re-imagining of Bizet’s “Carmen” as executed to perfection by the Philadelphia Orchestra and danced by Brian Sanders’ JUNK. Potent, sexual, and sublime. No single image can do justice to the language of this production, so here are two. Imagine ballet, Fosse, pole dancing, and gymnastics “horses” in a sexually charged production. (Thank you to Cynthia & Michael DeStefano!)Performers above Philadelphia Orchestra

Q&A Authors’ Roundtable at Towne Book Center

Authors' Roundtable

A special live authors’ roundtable is driven by questions from publishing execs and writers — about idea theft, the dangers of creating characters from real people, the perils of writing near-future sci-fi, and more! Recorded live at the Towne Book Center and Wine Bar. Legendary children’s book author Judy Schachner even shows up with a question or two for Oddcast cohosts Kelly Simmons, Merry Jones, Gregory Frost, Jon McGoran, and Keith Strunk.

The Oddcast Gets Lamba-sted

On this episode of the Liars Club Oddcast, we interview author/agent Marie Lamba and her husband landscaper/author Baldev Lamba, who discuss the experience working together to create the children’s picture book GREEN GREEN, the joy of collaborating with artist Sonia Sanchez, as well as agenting fiction and designing gardens.
