Illustration: The Comedians

Once upon a time (that time being around 1980), a magazine in south Florida called Easy Times hired me to paint a cover for an issue that focused on a small group of hot young comedians. And so “The Comedians,” as I named it, was born. In this blast-from-the-past, see how many of them you can identify. If you get them all, you’re probably as ancient as I am.

(My thanks in particular to Muffy McClung Berlyn, the editor at that time who green-lighted the cover.)

Writers’ Brunch 8.22.26

Another enjoyable midday gathering put on by Michael Swanwick and Marianne Porter, and including in this round Samuel R. Delany on your left, then Tim Burke, Michael Swanwick, Stephanie Feldman, Sally Wiener Grotta, and Darrell Schweitzer. And of course Marianne as chef, and me safely hidden behind the camera. The Philadelphia Writers’ Brunch carries on a tradition begun by the late Tom Purdom.
